To worship Him alone.
God is The Free of all needs, All Praiseworthy.
If we do what pleases God and stay away from what displeases Him, He will make good our lives and then place us in His Paradise.
Why Did God Create Us?
Verily, God, The Perfect and Most High, Who creates whatever and whenever He wills has not left us without guidance.
He has continually sent Prophets and Messengers to us to inform us about Him.
From that which they us informed of were His Names, Attributes and Actions.
From these is God’s Perfect Wisdom.
Every action, such as His Creating and Commanding, are of His Perfect Wisdom and Justice.
And from what He has informed of by way of His Prophets and Messenger are aspects of what we cannot perceive, like the creation of man.
An aspect of the unseen – it is not allowed to speak about why God does such and such, except with revelation.
Revealed by God, explained by His Prophets and Messengers and understood by their disciples.
Of God’s Revealed Books, the only one in its original form in this time of ours is The Qur’an.
The previous Books such as The Torah and The Gospel have, over time, been distorted, changed, things taken from them and things added in.
So for us to look at the Wisdom behind our creation, let’s turn to the Speech of The Creator, preserved until this time of ours.
God, The Most High, has said in The Qur’an,
“And I did not create the jinns and humans except to worship Me”.The Noble Qur’an 51:56
So this means, that there is no reason from the reasons that God created mankind, except to worship Him.
This is what all the Prophets and Messengers called to and it was the foundation of their call, and that is:
To worship God alone and not worship others alongside him.
As God, The Most High, has said:
وَلَقَدْ بَعَثْنَا فِى كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ رَّسُولًا أَنِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ ٱلطَّٰغُوتَ
“And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], “Worship God and avoid the false deities.””The Noble Qur’an 16:36
In this is the only source of peace for the servant and the fulfilment of the purpose of their creation.
God is Perfect, All Praiseworthy
This does not mean that God is in any need of the creation, nor does He receive any benefit from them; He, The Perfect and Most High, followed the above verse with,
“I desire not from them any provision, and nor do I desire that they feed Me.
It is God who is The Great Provider, The Possessor of Mighty Strength.”The Noble Qur’an 51:57-58
From The Names of God which He has taught his creation is, Al Ghanee; with the meaning: The Rich, Free of All Needs.
God is in no need of the creation – whoever shows gratitude to Him and singles Him out in all worship, it is for the good of his own self and if someone turns away it is their own loss.
As God has said in The Qur’an, informing us of the speech of the Prophet Solomon, may God bestow peace upon him,
“Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, ‘I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.’ And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, ‘This is from the favour of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful – his gratitude is for [the benefit of] his ownself. And whoever is ungrateful – then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Bountiful.'”The Noble Qur’an 27:40
What is Worship?
Worship is everything that God Loves and is Pleased with.
This includes speech and action, inward (in the heart) and outward (on the tongue and the limbs).
It is not known, except by way of the Prophets and Messengers that God has sent to the creation – who taught us how to please Him.
For every nation there was a messenger, and ours is the Prophet Muhammad, may God extol him in the highest company of the Angels and bestow on him peace.
How Can I Make Sure My Worship Accepted?
God only accepts worship that fulfills two conditions, and they are that that all worship is:
- Sincerely for Him alone
- Upon the teachings of our Prophet, may God extol him in the highest company of the Angels and grant him peace.
God, The Most High, has said:
وَلَقَدْ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكَ لَئِنْ أَشْرَكْتَ لَيَحْبَطَنَّ عَمَلُكَ وَلَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
“And indeed it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad), as it was to those (God’s Messengers) before you: “If you join others in worship with God, surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.”The Noble Qur’an 39:65
Worship is only accepted from one who has submitted to God and singled him out in all worship.
This is the religion of all the Prophets and Messengers: submission to God alone upon monotheism, free from polytheism and its people.
In Arabic, the word for this is “Islam”.
For someone to fulfil their purpose and please God, they must submit to Him alone, and He has instructed us how to do this.
How to Submit to God
The Prophet Muhammad, (may God extol him in the highest company of the Angels and grant him peace) said:
“Islam is to bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except God and Muhammad is the messenger of God, to establish the prayer, to pay the obligatory charity, to fast in Ramadan and to make pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.”Authenticated by Muslim, son of Al Hajjaj
Once someone says, with sincerity to God:
“I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah (God) alone and Muhammad is His slave and messenger” –
He has become a Muslim – which means, one who has submitted to God upon monotheism.
If he dies in this state, having not committed anything that would make him a disbeliever, he will enter Paradise which God has prepared for those who worship Him alone.
Who is Allah?
Allah is the Arabic word for God, The One besides Whom there is none worthy of worship.
The God of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, may God extol him in the highest company of the Angels and bestow on him peace.
It is the name Arabic Christians and Jews use for God, though they say things about him that aren’t true and worship besides Him that which cannot help or harm them.
How Can I Learn How to Worship My Lord?
God, The Perfect and Most High, has said in the Qur’an:
وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
“Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know”The Noble Qur’an 16:43
There has not ceased to be a group of the nation of the Prophet Muhammad, may God extol him in the highest company of the Angels and grant him peace, upon the truth until this time of ours.
At the head of them are the People of Knowledge, the Orthodox Muslim Scholars who have not ceased to teach the people about their Lord, why He created them and how to please Him.
There are also those who travel to these scholars to learn their religion, return to their people and teach them in their own language that they may please God, The Perfect and Most High.
In the English language, from the Grace of God upon us is that there is a multitude of authentic Islamic Teachers such as the beloved elders Dr Abu Iyaad, Abu Khadeejah, Abu Hakeem – may God preserve them all.

Why Did God Create the Humans?
It’s time for us all the increase in our knowledge of how to worship our Lord that we might please Him, that He might enter us into the abode of the righteous.
May God extol His Messenger in the highest company of the angels and grant him peace, his family and companions altogether.
