What Order Should You Eat Your Food In? – Proper Food Combining.

The order we eat food in definitely matters.

Our bodies digest foods at different speeds, if we eat a heavy food first (like well-done steak) and then a light one (like fruit) it may start to turn bad while the other food is digesting and take our bodies to un-ease!

Eat a small number of foods (or just one type) at the same time, eat the fastest digesting food first, then the next fastest, etc.

This may look like the following:

  • Water
  • Coconut Water
  • Juices
  • Smoothies
  • Soups
  • Fruits with much Water
  • Fruits with less Water

At least a 30-minute break.

  • Vegetables
  • Starches
  • Beans, Legumes
  • Nuts
  • Grains
  • Animal Products
    • Lighter
    • Heavier

There are also a number of different things related to food ordering you should look to use for optimal health, intellect and wellness – let’s have a look:

Food Ordering

In The Name of God, The Most Merciful, The Ever-Merciful to His believing servants.

All praise belongs to God, may He extol His Messenger in the Highest Company of the Angels and grant him peace, his family and companions and whoever follows guidance until the Day of Judgment.

To proceed, let’s look firstly at food ordering throughout our day:

In The Day

Make sure you start your day with water and a source of sugar.

Our bodies need water and sugar for fuel and if they are not properly fuelled from the beginning of the day this may lead to binging later!

Of the fruits, choose those high in water content in the morning to help activity and aprevent dehydration (you’ve just slept without drinking for how many hours, remember!)

Also, make sure you have water a little while before all of your meals, and after exercise or sweating – before you become thirsty.

In the afternoon, make sure again that you have had what you need of carbs/sugar, though you may choose to have less water content fruits now (like dates and figs, etc) just make sure to still take on enough water.

In the evening, this is when you might wish to take the proteins and good fats you need to support your body.

Make sure though, that you leave around 3 hours between eating and sleeping, as the body’s digestive processes slow down when we are lying down.

Also, when lying, vapours may rise to the head if not enough time is placed between them both and again, lead our bodies to un-ease.

Try to leave 3 hours between eating and sleeping (on your right side) and make sure to try to:

Walk after Food

Walking straight after eating has a known effect on helping the body digest these foods.

A walk of 10 minutes or so in nature has so many benefits.

Go outside, breathe some fresh air and look at a nice, natural environment.

Reflect upon The Greatness of God, His favours upon us and the gratitude which we need to show to Him alone.

From His favours upon us are His legislating acts of worship to show gratitude to Him, that He has made beneficial for us in this life an the next, though we are only to do them for Him.

This include walking to the Mosque for prayers five times a day and much more besides.

Don’t Recline Straight After Food

As we mentioned above, reclining after (or during eating) food has been noted to cause vapours to raise up to the head and slow down the body and the intellect.

Instead, go for your walk like above!

Additional Benefits

Two benefits additional to food order, are to raise your head while sleeping and sleep on your right side.

Sleeping on the right side improves the remaining, later digestive processes, whilst raising the head helps to prevent fluid rising up to the head and causing headaches and other signposts of a body at un-ease.

Food in The Week

As there is a balancing act between acquiring all the nutrients we need, the money we have to work with and the amount of food our bodies should actually be processing – we need to have a plan in place to help our bodies digest food.

It’s well known that a big cause of un-ease is when the body has not utilised completely all of the food it has been eating, and this backs up to the point where the body needs a break.

One of the worldly benefits of fasting (again, not that we do acts of worship for the world) is that it helps to clear the body of backed up food and make the body easier to control.

If you are not already fasting your portion of the year (the month made obligatory by The All-Knowing, All-Wise) or of the week/month (as extra worship) then perhaps you are experiencing a reduction of patience, health and intellect from leaving this off – which in turn may well lead to reduced income and beneficial human interactions.

Foods to Include Weekly

In addition, there are other foods which should be included on a weekly basis (if not daily in smaller amounts) to help maintain optimal health.

What Order Should You Eat Your Food In?

All of the above may form the basis of our learning to fuel our bodies in the best way.

What does it react well to, or react not so well to?

With reflecting upon this, over time, you may notice a reduction in un-ease and cravings and an increase in intellect.

Make sure to chew all your food properly, so that the body may have its work cut down in having to digest the food.

Lastly, don’t feel like you need to eat if you are not in need of it.

How many illnesses might come about via simply eating food too soon after the last meal – before there has been enough time for the body to properly digest everything!

To help with all the above, make sure you are eating a proper balanced diet.
